Southeastern MS Beginning Band
Southeastern MS Beginning Band
Dear Parents,
Southeastern Middle School invites all students going into 5th Grade students to join BEGINNING BAND. All students going into 5th Grade are eligible to enroll in Beginning Band. Band is for EVERYONE! No music background is necessary. Beginning Band class meets during the regular school day and students perform a Spring concert to show off their progress for the year. There are no mandatory after school practices for beginning band.
Band is a fun and rewarding activity offering positive musical experiences. This opportunity to join band is an important part of the well-rounded education your child receives at Southeastern. On average over 140 students in grades 5-12 participate in the Southeastern Band program! Challenging and rewarding musical experiences are provided for students as they progress through the program to make band an educational and enjoyable activity at all levels. Students in the band program have the opportunity perform in concerts, go on field trips, participate in jazz band, take lessons, and progress to become the best they can be on their instrument. Recent trips by the Southeastern Marching Panthers include New York City, Chicago, Cedar Point, Disney World, and Nashville.
Beginning band students are required to provide their own instrument and an 'Essential Elements' beginning band method book. There are 2 ways to get an instrument for band: 1) previously owned instrument 2) new instrument. It is important for a beginning student’s early success to have a quality instrument in good working order. Music retailers offer affordable prices and an excellent maintenance/rental plan on new and slightly used instruments. See the information below about the Essential Elements Band book and about the Music & Arts rental program. BBB Music in Chillicothe also partners with Music & Arts if you prefer to get your instrument through our local music store.
